Summer Series Info

at Lake Hodges

Lake Hodges is located off the 15 FWY in Escondido. There  are plenty of shops and such if you need something on the way in. After you get away from the freeway you will drive through the residential and then your pretty secluded once you turn onto the road that brings you to the lake. The lake offers tons of parking, which is right next to the starting line. There are real restrooms and port-o-potties on location there.

Week one there was a taco truck and coffee truck. ( week 2 ,3, and 4  there was no coffee truck) The food & drinks from both were amazing! They got set up pretty quickly and were there until the races were over which was nice! We ordered an iced latte, espresso shots, and banana peanut butter smoothie from Reflect coffee. Then we had 3 different types of tacos from Surf me a taco truck! All of it was great!

We get there at about 4:00 so that we had plenty of time to eat, pre-ride, and get good parking. This  is a good amount of time to get the kids registered, stoked, and on their bikes with their buddies! There were kids everywhere it was the best! After everyone got their number plates on the kids race started at 5:00 PM. The beginners did 2 laps, the sport kids did 3 laps, and the expert kids did 4 laps.

This is how they break down those categories:

  • KIDS BEGINNER BOY/GIRL: 1 year or less racing/riding on the dirt. (This is for kids just starting out, dirt skills and stamina in development)

  • KIDS SPORT BOY/GIRL: 1 to 2 years of racing/riding dirt. (This is for kids good on dirt but need work on stamina)

  • KIDS EXPERT BOY/GIRL: 2+ years of racing/riding dirt. (This is for kids good on dirt, good on stamina but not quite ready for School Boy/Girl)

If you're still looking for a good reason to go, trust me when I say this is the best environment to bring your kids to! They are surrounded by other kids who love to ride bikes. It helps them grow while introducing them to a great sport. It's where our kids had their first MTB race and we plan on being at as many races as possible. The Quick N' Dirty team really knows how to include everyone in their races and it shows.

Also, they have new merch at the tent next to registration. They have shirts, hats, jerseys and more! Go check it out and get something to remind yourself about how amazing this race is.

Kid's night

at Quick N' Dirty's Summer Series week4

When we arrived the kids quickly noticed the  fun that the Quick N' Dirty team had planned for them. There were so many kids, lots of things to do and bike racing on top of it all. The boys rode over to the obstacle course first and did lap after lap. Their favorite obstacle was the chickens. :)  I didn't get a video of the ids running over the chickens,  but it was hysterical!  I saw a few kids with face paint but my favorite was the kid who  looked like a a zombie. He even raced with the paint on, it was great. There was tacos, ice cream, face paint, and lots of  fun!  Best day ever!
