At Sagebrush Safari 2025 Kevin rode the

Race Day at Quick N Dirty's
Sage Bruch Safari
We heard so many good things about Quick N' Dirty's Sagebrush Safari that we had to join in on the fun. We signed up to camp and for the pasta dinner the night before. Unfortunately we couldn't make it the night before. So we packed up super early and headed out to the race at dawn. The drive up from El Cajon was about 1 hour. It was easy to find and we got a great parking spot right next to the starting line. That's pretty much where we hung out all day. The kids decided that they were going to join in on the fun and participate in the kids race so while Kevin was warming up I signed them up! They were stoked.
The kids race started just after the adults took off on their race. The littles were separated into 2 categories. It was pretty much kids that could peddle and kids that are still striding along. The bigger kids went on a 1 mile mission through the campground area. They were led by one of the Quick N' Dirty's team members. He leads a lot of the kids races he's so kind and so great with the kids. Waylon took off with the front of the pack and Rawls was near the back of the pack. but Rawly just turned 4 and was the youngest rider out there doing the 1 mile race. He rode the whole thing and came in last but stoked he did his first real race! Riggy stayed at the van and played monster trucks.
The starting line area came to life while the riders were out racing. The BBQ guy was cooking, there was music jamming, and the kids were all having a blast together. The Quick N' Dirty team really knows how to put on a race! They have merch out to purchase and a fire pit to sit by. Which was amazing because the morning was chilly!
As the riders came back in we cheered and celebrated. We held our signs and gave high fives. Everyone was so happy and it was a pretty great day! The cycling community is so genuinely kind and fun. No party scene no rage. Just fun and respect.

The Quick N Dirty crew always puts on a good race!

Bathrooms
Welp this race only had port-o-potties. Which is fine until you have toddlers that need to poop. But they were clean at the beginning of the day and there was a handwashing station so that was good. You are really in the wilderness at this race.
